Brondby accept Celtic bid for striker Morten Rasmussen

Rasmussen has an excellent scoring record with Brondby

Celtic have had an offer accepted by Brondby for striker Morten Rasmussen.

The £1m-rated 24-year-old Denmark international, who has been with Brondby since 2006, will now discuss personal terms with the Glasgow club.

Rasmussen's nickname is Duncan, his style of play having been compared to former Everton, Rangers and Scotland striker Duncan Ferguson.

He made his senior debut for AGF Aarhus in 2002 before moving to Brondby for £1.2m on a five-year contract.

Rasmussen told Danish television station TV2: "A move to Celtic would obviously be interesting for me.
They're a big club and it has always been a dream of mine to play outside Denmark

As long as nothing is certain, it's difficult for me to say much.

"They're a big club and it has always been a dream of mine to play outside Denmark - but we will have to wait and see what happens."

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray had earlier played his cards close to his chest regarding the 24-year-old but would not deny that he was set to move for the player.

"I don't want to sit and discuss any players because you move from one to the next to the next.

"So let's move on and we will wait and see."

Rasmussen, who has played for his country at all youth levels, has scored 52 goals in 111 appearances for the Danish Superliga club.

He is currently playing for the Danish League Select at the King's Cup invitational tournament in Thailand.

However, he will have to decide whether a move to the Scottish Premier League will benefit his bid to be part of Morten Olsen's Danish squad for this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.
